Millions of Americans have received their Economic Impact Payments. If you didn’t get your Economic Impact Payment yet, don’t panic. There are several reasons why the direct deposit didn’t happen on Wednesday and a few actions you can take to help expedite your money.

First, an overview:

  • Eligible individuals will receive up to $1,200.
  • Eligible married couples will receive up to $2,400.
  • Eligible individuals will receive up to $500 for each qualifying child.

Taxpayers will receive a reduced payment if their adjusted gross income is between:

  • $75,000 and $99,000 if their filing status was single or married filing separately
  • $112,500 and $136,500 for head of household
  • $150,000 and $198,000 if their filing status was married filing jointly

Why didn’t I get my money?

One possible reason for not getting your money has to do with how you filed. If you used a third-party application such as TurboTax or H&R Block, it’s possible the IRS didn’t have your direct deposit information.

“What’s happening is people filed their taxes through a tax product. Because they didn’t get their money directly from the government, the government didn’t actually have their direct deposit information,” said David Murphy, VP of Finance & Risk.

Other people who won’t get a check include:

  • Many students aren’t eligible for a stimulus check
  • Some elderly and disabled people
  • Immigrants who don’t have a Social Security number
