Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union (MMCCU) has donated $5,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Marshfield, through a partnership with Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago’s Relief Program.
MMCCU applied for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago’s COVID-19 Relief Program, which consists of zero-rate advances and grants to support all of its member institutions and the communities they serve as they respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Imagine facing the unthinkable, your child is seriously ill or injured and needs to be hospitalized, during a worldwide pandemic. That is the current reality for our families,” said Iilee Pederson, Executive Director at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Marshfield. “The generous donation from Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union will directly benefit our Ronald McDonald House families that would typically call our House their ‘home’ by underwriting the cost of their hotel stay while our House is temporarily closed.”
She added that Ronald McDonald House donors play a substantial role in supporting children’s health, keeping families together and eliminating parents’ stress about the expense and burden of securing lodging and meals during their child’s hospitalization.
“Donations are critical to our charity’s mission as more than 97% of our funding comes from local support and allows us to continue to operate completely free to families,” said Pederson.
“The Ronald McDonald House is an incredible facility and a nonprofit organization closely connected to our membership,” said Carol Adler, MMCCU President. “We are honored that we could support their important mission through this opportunity.”
“Although our daily operations look different in this moment, our mission of keeping families close to their hospitalized child has remained the same because we believe healing happens together,” said Pederson. ”Our generous community supporters and donors help to provide 24/7 hugs and kisses for our smallest patients and their families during these unprecedented times, when they need it most.”
