$15,000 in Total Donated to Area Nonprofits

This week, Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union (MMCCU) visited Festival Foods in Marshfield to stock up on some of Soup Or Socks (SOS) Food Pantry and Clothes Closet’s most-needed items. In addition, the credit union also supplied a monetary donation – in total, providing $5,000 to support the local nonprofit.

“We saw that SOS was low on some important items, so we wanted to do what we could to help,” said David Murphy, VP of Finance and Risk.

Murphy, along with MMCCU Member Services Representative Ethan Posteluk, filled two carts full of canned foods, personal hygiene supplies, and other needed items which they then delivered to Soup Or Socks.

“It was fun shopping for a good cause. SOS does an amazing job in the community,” said Murphy. “Additionally, we were able to support our local Festival Foods, which also gives back. As a local business ourselves, it’s important to us to support other local businesses and nonprofits.”

This month, MMCCU also donated $5,000 each to St. Vincent de Paul and Opportunity Development Center, through a partnership with Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago’s Relief Program – which also supplied the donation for SOS. In total, MMCCU received a grant for $15,000, which was split between these three organizations.

Earlier this year, MMCCU donated $20,000 through the FHLBank Chicago grant fund, splitting that donation between Marshfield Clinic Health System Foundation, The Ronald McDonald House, Rotary Winter Wonderland, and the Hannah Center.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago’s COVID-19 Relief Program consists of zero-rate advances and grants to support all of its member institutions and the communities they serve as they respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Targeted Impact Fund provides members with grants to support relief efforts for populations hardest-hit by the pandemic.

“We are always committed to supporting our customers and our communities, and now this is more important than ever,” said President Carol Adler. “When we learned about the Targeted Impact Fund, we immediately applied and are thrilled to be able to use these funds to help our community.”

Founded in 1965, Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union (MMCCU) is a closed charter, not-for-profit financial institution dedicated to exclusively serving the financial needs of employees in the medical community and their immediate families, therefore designed to best serve the financial needs of this specific group of people.
