3 Tips for Improving Resale Value of Your Vehicle

If you’re ready to trade in your vehicle and want to get the most money for your old vehicle, check out the tips below. At MMCCU, we help our members with auto loans for both new and use vehicles. If you have any questions about the loan process, give us a call at 715-387-8686.

  1. Have your vehicle checked out by a mechanic, but make easy fixes yourself:
Take care of any small issues that you can, like a burned-out headlight or a small dent or scratch. Have a mechanic help with any issues out of your comfort zone.
  2. Clean the car inside and outside:
Much like curb appeal in a house, having a clean car is important when selling. Pay attention to things like the headlights and hubcaps on the outside. Inside, vacuum and wipe down surfaces. Clean the windows with specially-designed car window cleaner (household cleaners can leave streaks) and clean or replace the floor mats with new ones. If you have a high-end vehicle, consider having it detailed.
  3. Get your papers in order:
Keep a record of maintenance to your car and have it ready to give to the new buyer. Having proper documentation helps prove that your car is in good working condition and also shows the new buyer that you have taken good care of your vehicle.

It might be tempting to pass off any issues to the new buyer, but for those wanting the most for their vehicle sale, practicing these tips can make a significant difference. You may need to spend a little bit of money, but the return will likely be worthwhile.

As you get ready to embark on your new vehicle search, reach out to MMCCU for help securing financing and with any questions you may have!
