The Healthcare Credit Union Association (HCUA), a national organization dedicated to strengthening credit unions that serve healthcare employees and their families, has appointed David Murphy, President of MMCCU, to its Board of Directors.
HCUA brings together credit unions with a shared mission of supporting the unique financial needs of the healthcare community. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and supported by an Executive Director, HCUA promotes growth, collaboration, and educational opportunities among its members. It is open to any credit union serving a significant number of healthcare employees or chartered to serve the medical industry.
Murphy’s appointment underscores HCUA’s commitment to strong, mission-driven leadership within the healthcare credit union space.
“With nearly two decades of experience and a deep understanding of credit unions and the healthcare sector, David brings both strategic insight and operational expertise to our board,” said Executive Director, Benita Harp. “His appointment reflects our continued focus on innovation and unity across the credit unions we represent.”
A Wisconsin native, Murphy began his credit union journey at age 16 with Oakdale Credit Union. He later held positions at Altra Federal Credit Union before joining MMCCU in 2010 and becoming President in 2021. His leadership at MMCCU reflects a longstanding commitment to financial wellness and community engagement. In addition to his CPA credentials, Murphy currently serves on the Small Credit Union Council.
“I’m honored to join the HCUA Board and to collaborate with other leaders who share a vision for strengthening credit unions within the healthcare sector,” said Murphy. “This is an opportunity to advocate for institutions that not only understand the financial lives of healthcare workers but are uniquely positioned to serve them.”
