Shared branching is a network of credit unions that collaborate to provide their members with access to banking services at other participating credit unions’ locations across the country. This means that if you’re a member of one credit union, like MMCCU, you can perform many of the same banking transactions at another credit union in the shared branching network, as if you were at your home branch. You can visit more than 5,000 locations at participating credit unions to conduct transactions including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and transfers. You must have a valid photo ID and know your MMCCU member number.
Benefits for College Students:
- Convenience: Even if you move away to attend college, you can still access your MMCCU account at any shared branching location near your campus. This allows you to make deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and more without needing to switch banks.
- Cost-Effective: Shared branching helps you avoid fees that you might incur by using non-network ATMs or banking with a different financial institution.
- Personalized Service: Despite being far from home, you’ll still get the personal touch and familiar service standards associated with credit unions.
- Safety: Shared branching ensures you always have a trusted place to handle your banking, reducing the risk of carrying large amounts of cash.
By taking advantage of shared branching, you can enjoy the convenience of nationwide access while staying connected to your local credit union, MMCCU, wherever your college journey takes you!
Under e-services on the homepage of the MMCCU website (or click here!), members can look up Shared Branch locations geographically. This provides a road map for members to the nearest CO-OP network credit union.
