Celebrated every November, National Family Caregivers Month (NFCM) is a time to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country. It offers an opportunity to raise awareness of caregiving issues, educate communities, and increase support for caregivers.
“This is a time to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country,” said David Murphy, MMCCU President. “Our membership consists of caregivers of all kinds – people who work every day to improve the health of our community and its families. We give them a special shoutout during the month of November, but they are appreciated year-round!”
Spearheaded by Caregiver Action Network (CAN), a nonprofit that provides free education, peer support, and resources to family caregivers, this year’s theme is #CaregiverAnd which encourages family caregivers to celebrate the passions and interests that enrich their lives.
“Caregivers are often responsible for helping family members manage their finances, another reason that we are eager to give them kudos during this month,” said Murphy.
Millions of Americans manage money or property for a loved one who’s unable to pay bills or make financial decisions. To help financial caregivers, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has released easy-to-understand guides that can help.
Guides are coordinated to provide advice and steps pertaining to Power of Attorney, Court-appointed Guardians, Trustees, and Government Fiduciaries.
If you or a loved one are planning ahead in case you need help managing your money in the future, knowing your options will help you choose what works best for your situation.
